Show Some Love To Who Needs It Most

Updated: May 15, 2019

It's easy to get caught up in the daily mundane tasks. It's easy to get so tired and not even realize that you're putting yourself, and your mindset, on the back burner. It's easy to fall into the trap that you don't deserve the love you're giving the rest of the world.

It's hard to put yourself first, especially during the times when you really need to because there's already SO MUCH going on. It's hard to recognize when you need a break. It's hard to find the time you need just for you.

If you're having a hard time coming up with ideas to treat yo' self take some of the tasks that I personally love! If you can make everyday a #treatyoself day, then why not go for it??

Self Care List

1.) Take a bath with lots of bubbles, a glass of wine, and your favorite coffeehouse music

2.) Put on a face mask and drink more wine (or some tea if that's more your style)

3.) Journal-release your thoughts on whatever has been bugging you onto a piece of paper and let that sh*t go

4.) Take a walk OUTSIDE not just on a treadmill. If it's sunny that's great, if it's raining that's even better

5.) Soak feet in warm water and do an at-home pedicure

6.) Turn off social media, light a candle and just breathe for 10 minutes (I throw my legs up on a wall)

7.) Plant some flowers, even if you kill them they still provided a little bit of joy and you'll learn what NOT to do for the next time

8.) Go to the local humane society and pet a dog or a cat if you're not allergic (Heck even if you are allergic, take some medicine and let the animals love you)

9.) Spend time in prayer

10.) Spend at least 20 minutes a day doing something you really love. From writing, to playing video games, to painting, to decorating. Take the time to be joyful even for a short period of time.

11.) Call your parents or a friend who you haven't talked to in a long time

12.) Take yourself on a coffee date, even if you don't feel like leaving the house and talking to people, fresh air and a short break will do ya some good. I promise.

13.) Color (I love adult coloring books...)

14.) Create lists and goals on what you have accomplished and what you want to accomplish. Give yourself at least ONE TASK that you can immediately cross off-it will help you stay motivated

15.) Go for a long drive with your favorite playlist. Keep your phone away from you (DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE HOMIES)

16.) Drink lots of water-throw some frozen fruit in it for more flavor + prettiness (and take a picture to put on Instagram)

17.) Make your home YOUR HOME. Decorate it and make a bland space your own

18.) Get a great smelling lotion and put it on throughout the day

19.) Remember to smile. Smile at yourself, smile at strangers, smile with your friends. Just smile

20.) Give yourself a mantra. Put it up on your bathroom mirror, your desk, your office, your car, never let yourself "forget" how strong you are and how you deserve all the happiness and good vibes that come your way

Self-Care Pro-Tip: I try my best to stay away from spending money or treating myself to retail therapy. Instead, every month I sit down and write down some items (outside of groceries) that I actually feel like I need. If I ever have the urge to go shopping, I have my list of things I need like a pair of black jeans for work, so I can get that same satisfactory feeling without feeling guilty. Plus it's always stuff that I use all the time because I GENUINELY needed it.

Have any more ideas that help YOU? I'd love to hear them! I'm constantly looking for ways to relax and take my mental health seriously and not push it to the side. Have you tried any of the listed items? Do they help you or have you only found they help "in theory" and instead leave you feeling bored?
