Hey, It's Me!

Updated: Mar 25

I've started to see a few new faces around the blogging sphere out here and with a new website + rebrand I figured *officially* introducing myself couldn't be a bad idea. So hello! It's me, Jen Gibbs and I'm SO GLAD that you are here :)

Currently, I live in Loveland, Colorado with my amazing fiance-Mark Gibbs. He grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and I grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa but our love story began during college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. We both recently graduated within the last year and Mark's internship in Omaha turned into a full-time job out here in Colorado. Mark graduated with a Civil Engineering and Math degree. I graduated with a Marketing and Management degree.

As I mentioned, I'm originally from a small(ish) town in Southwest Iowa where I grew up with my two little brothers, my wonderful parents, and all of our pets (mostly border collies, a cat, some fish that killed everything else, and a few others). I graduated high school in 2014 from Saint Albert Catholic - a SUPER small school but a school that also gave all of their students the opportunities to do anything and everything they wanted. I have to admit, I took full advantage of that by playing volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track. Being the stage manager for the fall musicals and spring plays while also being a member of the band, choir, and chamber choir, and our National Honor Society Vice-President. High school was where I learned to work hard for hours on end and time manage so I could do everything I wanted to do and I wouldn't change that for the world.

College was even busier. With 15-18 credit hour semesters, and holding leadership positions in Love Your Melon, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, and Delta Sigma Pi while also working over 40 hours a week with two jobs from sophomore to senior year, I still think it's crazy UNO gave me the opportunity to succeed. AKA: Graduate with high honors. But alas, I am alive even after countless sleepless nights and (quite literally) days without eating and once again, I wouldn't change my experience for anything.

Graduation threw me for a loop when I got let go at my job. However, God had my back and led me to work full-time at the Omaha Zoo in the Events Department. It started a little rough but ended with so many new friends, a great boss, and relationships + memories that I will honestly cherish forever. Jobs are easy when you're co-workers are so fantastic!

Now I am searching for a job while also looking to grow my own website/business/blog whatever you'd like to call this corner of the universe and I'm taking care of a 13-week old puppy who can't quite get the whole potty training aspect down. One day he'll get it! I'm exploring my new home in Loveland with my best friend. I'm meeting new people but also catching up with old friends. (Looking at you Faith!) New experiences like skiing and hiking cool trails happen all the time and I'm excited for what's left to uncover itself. I promise to bring you along ;)

If you have any questions for me, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm here to help give advice with time management, or provide more background on my schooling/job history (ask me about the time I got to pet a penguin!), or even just how to train your puppy. Leave a question in the comments below or shoot me an email. I'd love to hear from you!
