Most of us are safe at home for at least another month (although Nebraska is being a little more lenient, and opening up restaurants and parks again. My thoughts on are mixed on this, but this is a topic for another day). While we're still trying to navigate this crazy new normal, most of us are forced to do it from the comfort of our homes. I've rounded up the top items that have helped me stay sane while being at home in hopes that they can help you as well!
Here are my safe-at-home, quarantine must-haves:
I've always loved my Hamilton Beach coffee maker. I've had it for years and it still works great! Mark and I received the Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino machine as a wedding gift and I think I may like it more than my Hamilton Beach! It's so easy to make boujee drinks now. No need for expensive and over sugary drinks from Starbucks anymore!
We are all just trying to keep our heads on straight. For me, it helps to have calming smells around our home. Pick your favorite scent(s) and take some deep breaths.
When you're at home for days on end, it's important to feel safe in your space. Soft, furry, silky blankets and pillows can not only help our sense of touch, but they can also create a fun and/or a calming atmosphere. It's important you feel comfortable in your space, not stiff or scared to touch anything.
Sweat sets are all the rage right now! And how could they not? Who wants to lounge around in jeans all day every day when all you're doing is relaxing? You don't have to spend an arm and a leg on a cute loungewear outfit. That's what Amazon is for, right? :)
FaceTime apps such as Zoom and Houseparty help Mark and I stay in touch with our friends even when we can't see them in person. For my birthday, Mark hosted a "party" on Houseparty where we could invite/host 8 people and play games together. Although he forgot to tell me until I was literally late to the party, it was such a cute gesture and it was great getting to see people's faces!
I bought Mark the Switch a couple Christmas's ago and would play Mario Odyssey only occasionally. Lately, I've been playing Stardew Valley and have become obsessed with the game console. I'm tempted to buy Animal Crossing too, but I'm worried about where ALLLLL of my time would go. What games do you have for your Switch?
Joanna Gaines Cookbook - Magnolia Table
Another great wedding/wedding shower present Mark and I received. Joanna Gaines is someone I look up to and her recipes are just as good as her interior design skills. Mark and I love having a BOOK to turn to and try new (and old) recipes that hold delicious twists to them.
Pinterest is an online place where I could get lost for hours. I always find myself daydreaming and goal setting when I log on. If you're looking for inspiration to help keep you sane through this unknowing times, OR if you're wanting to set goals for what you want your life to look like outside of quarantine, Pinterest can help with both. Don't forget to follow me!
This pj set is SO SOFT. They're comfy and adorable. (Who doesn't love avocados??) All of the things you need in pajama's, right? Which set is your favorite?
I have loved learning the art and exercise of yoga. It helps with my anxiety and stress as well as wakes my body up as I force myself to move off of the couch. This mat is thick and supportive. Plus you can't beat the price for the quality you get. Starting with just a little bit of exercise has helped me to expand into other options OFF of the mat.
Life is strange and a struggle for most people right now. Remember to be KIND, be CONSIDERATE, and take care of YOURSELF. You can't pour from an empty cup. These items have helped me while Mark and I are at home. What products, apps, technology have helped you while you've been social distancing? I would love to hear!
