Take a Break, You Deserve It
Updated: Mar 24
It's been a while since y'all have seen me around this neck of the woods. Truth be told, I've been tired. Exhausted actually. I needed a break. A lot has happened within a short of amount of time (and I wish I could say there was more good news than bad). I wasn't able to get many breaks in other areas of my life, so my blog was the area that took the hit.
Although it hasn't necessarily been an easy time, it certainly hasn't been completely awful either. We've gotten to see family and friends. We've been working on training our dog to try and beat his separation anxiety issues and truth be told I've been grinding away at work trying to train my best for (hopefully) a promotion soon.
After taking a step back from the blogging world and especially not being able to spend a whole lot of time on social media I've realized we all deserve a break. You, me, everyone. Too often we all get caught up in the day-to-day and focus too much on the hard stuff and not enough on the good. It's easy to do. It's easier to through yourself a pity party versus looking at the gifts that God has given you.
Take a break from expectations.
Stay off of your social media apps that make it look like everyone has it together (because they don't) for just a littttllleee bit. Fall into a good T.V. show or movie. Take a bath. Take an unplanned vacation for a couple of days. Or focus on what needs to be done in YOUR life (not your kids, not your spouse's, not your best friends, YOU). Do what REALLY needs to be done in your mind. This could look like laundry or grabbing a coffee or writing down your thoughts, or playing video games for hours on end.
We don't take enough (real) breaks in life. We get so caught up in what has happened, or worse, what hasn't happened yet that we forget to focus on the present moment. Take a break to enjoy right now. Life isn't going to get easier or harder, life is just life. It's always unfair to everyone but it's also great and way too short so enjoy where you are now. Take a second to realize all of the amazing things that you have. You've worked hard to be here, so take a break before following the rest of your dreams.
I'd love to hear how you prefer to take personal breaks! Do you work harder for yourself? Clean up the house? Or zone out by watching Netflix and participating in self-care? Let me know in the comments or you can always email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Happy relaxing! 😊
