Ways To Get Ready For Summer
Summer is officially HERE! The season has already brought lots of sunshine, warm weather, and summer storms here to Nebraska. These upcoming weeks are known to bring fun and relaxation to many families - even during this COVID era. You can make sure your home, and those in it, are ready for summer with a just few (and even enjoyable) ways to fill the time. ;)
Sunscreen is SO important to keep your skin healthy and cancer-free. Fun-fact: Most skin diseases arise due to a lack of protection up until age 18, so keep your kids protected too! SPF 25 or above will dramatically help protect you through the summer heat.
Summer months call for bright colors and fun patterns! Spruce up your indoor and outdoor space with simple decor or comfy pillows. Some of my favorites? Pineapple, floral, and paisley are all good go-to's.
Flowers (Artificial or Real)
One of my favorite ways to add color and life into our place is to add flowers around the house. As much as I LOVE having real plants around, our apartment doesn't get much sun, so artificial plants are the next best thing! Which do you prefer - Real or artificial plants?
Real - Look for a local nursery! I love Mulhall's in Omaha.
Summer means the days are getting longer and the nights are getting warmer. What better way to enjoy the sunset on your deck or patio than with some mood lighting?! Christmas lights aren't just for Christmas time anymore.
The Fourth of July is always a fun holiday to celebrate our country and there's no better way to make a bang than with a literal bang. Stock up on fireworks, snappers, and sparklers before it's too late.
Some Shows To Binge
Summertime is full of adventure but sometimes, nothing beats taking a day to relax, zone-out, and stay in pj's on your couch. Here are some shows Mark and I have been loving!
Brooklyn 99 (but let's face it, this is the best show to fall asleep to)
Little Fires Everywhere
I've been trying to get a lot more walks in during the nice weather. I'm REALLY in need of a new pair of tennis shoes and these are a couple I've had my eye on.
Mark got me a Fitbit Versa 2 for Christmas and I almost never take it off. During the warmer months, I've enjoyed using it to track my steps, my long walks, my food/water intake, and more. They've even included some COVID-19 updates to help you track symptoms and how other's are feeling around you. 10/10 highly recommend.
Summer storms are underway! Although I love being cuddled up at home with candles and a good movie when lightning strikes, I don't always get that luxury. I keep an umbrella in my car at all times, and I never regret it.
No one plans on having their air conditioning going out, especially when you need it most. Not only can fans help you save electricity by helping to keep your place cool, but they can also be a lifesaver in case your AC goes kaput randomly. Extra fans are great for apartment dwellers and home-owners alike because you never know what could wrong at which time.
What items are YOU loving (or needing!) for the summer months? I'm curious to know what your summer favs are for products and activities. Leave a comment below or shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know! I love hearing from you guys. I hope you all are having a GREAT start to summertime! :)
